Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
    What is seasoned firewood?

Answer:
Seasoned firewood is wood that has been air dried outside after being cut and split. On average, it takes about 6-9 months for the wood to be seasoned to perfection.  Our wood is all sourced locally, split onsite and stored outdoors, it is not kiln dried.

Question:
How do I get a good fire started?

Answer:
First thing you want to do is start your fire with kindling and newspaper.
(We highly recommend investing in FatWood, it is a sap rich product that slow burns in order to get the logs lit more easily).  You can find it on www.PlowHearth.com. Once you have a fire going, start to put smaller pieces of the firewood on top. DO NOT start with big pieces of firewood. After you have a nice little fire going, you can add your bigger pieces of firewood.

Question:
When is the best time to buy wood?

Answer:
Spring and Summer so it can be stacked and have better airflow to fully dry out for ease of burning.

Question:
What to expect when wood is delivered?

Answer:
Expect dirt and debris in the wood while stacking it. It is impossible to deliver spotless wood. The splintering and dirt is a result of the wood being rotated during the seasoning process.

Question:
Will you buy/pickup/remove the tree that I had remove or fell down?

Answer:
No, we cannot rely on donations or buy our firewood and give our customers the best product possible.

Question:
Where should I stack my firewood?

Answer:
We recommend stacking firewood on either a rack or on a pallet. We DO NOT recommend stacking it on the ground.
